The EU Organic Awards are back to honour the champions of sustainable farming and organic innovation! The awards, introduced as part of the Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production, recognise remarkable efforts across the organic value chain that contribute to a greener future.
Organic production is gaining momentum as a vital contributor to a more environmentally friendly and climate-resilient agricultural landscape. The European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork strategy, and the Biodiversity strategy are all championing the expansion of organic farming, which has the potential to significantly reduce chemical inputs, enhance biodiversity, and ensure animal welfare.
The EU’s ambitious goal of achieving 25% of agricultural land under organic farming by 2030 is driving this movement, coupled with a strong push for increased organic aquaculture. In line with these aspirations, the EU Organic Awards celebrate pioneers who have gone above and beyond to make a real difference.
This year’s finalists across various categories have been announced, showcasing exemplary initiatives that have elevated organic farming practices. Categories range from honouring the Best Organic Farmer (both female and male) to recognizing exceptional Organic Cities, Bio-districts, Food Processing SMEs, Food Retailers, and Restaurants/Food Services.
