For nearly two years, FLIARA has been cultivating a dynamic ecosystem that champions women-led innovation in farming and rural areas across Europe. As we near the end of our second year, we’re thrilled to share what we have learnt and to look ahead at the exciting opportunities for the year to come.
Through foresight analyses, mapping innovative case studies, and building a vibrant Community of Practice (CoP), FLIARA has uncovered powerful stories and actionable insights that are reshaping rural innovation.
5 Key Insights from the FLIARA Journey
The Right Ingredients for Innovation
Successful women-led rural innovations require a mix of resources: access to funding, training opportunities, skills development, and strong networks. But it is not just about having the tools; it is about making them accessible.
Envisioning the Future
Our foresight research reveals a bright future for rural innovation, with women at its heart. Platforms for co-creation, communal innovation spaces, and stronger networks are just a few ways to turn these ideas into reality. The potential for women to drive sustainability in rural Europe is enormous, and FLIARA is working to unlock it.
The Network Effect
Behind every successful innovator is a network that connects them to people, ideas, and opportunities. FLIARA shows how diverse networks—business groups, local meet-ups, online communities—are critical for rural women innovators.
The FLIARA Community of Practice (CoP) is a cornerstone of this effort, bringing stakeholders together from across the EU to exchange knowledge, build relationships, and spark collaboration.
From Research to Real Change
Community-led research isn’t just about gathering data; it’s about turning insights into action. The FLIARA CoP has been carefully designed to ensure ideas are actionable, with policymakers and other stakeholders involved from the start. This collaborative approach ensures tailored solutions that are ready to implement.
Spotlight on Women
To amplify the voices of rural women, FLIARA interviewed 200 innovators across Europe and selected 20 Ambassadors to represent their peers. These women are more than participants—they are advocates, changemakers, and champions of rural innovation.
Through their leadership, FLIARA not only celebrates their achievements but also paves the way for future women innovators.
Looking Ahead
As FLIARA approaches its final year, the project is more energised than ever. With a wealth of knowledge already shared, there is so much more to come: policy tools, new innovations, and even stronger networks to support women in reshaping rural Europe.
